Successful mission to buy some felt from the 'wool stall'. Although I 'felt' like I was a nuisance because the gentleman who served me had to reach up to a high shelf for what I wanted. A little politeness and gratitude for my custom would have been nice. I only shopped there because I passing on the way back to my car. I shall definitely take my custom back to the Fent Shop where ALL the people who serve you are happy and friendly, polite and very very helpful.
Some good stores. Most seem to be closing down. Centre rates keep rising pushing the local individual businesses that once thrived out.
Despite being small, this was a super little shopping centre. Now, there is little left to attract shoppers, as many units are vacant. There was a vibrant indoor market crammed full of varied retailers, but, again, the whole place is cold, dark and run down with most units either empty or, seemingly, unattended, with curtains pulled across. I feel sorry for the few retailers who continue to trade in such a depressing environment. It is now a sad reflection on Macclesfield town centre, especially Chestergate, which used to be a thriving shopping street crammed full of specialist retailers but is now blighted by empty shops and litter.
Sadly this place is starting to look a bit like it's failing, despite the recent upgrade investment. Unfortunately more empty shops are appearing, with rumour of more on the horizon . The one big positive review about this arcade, is TKMax has appeared as a new town anchor store. Reversing the trend of empty buildings. Well done, some good news at last.
Pleasant filled with interesting trinkets and quality cooked foods. Only downside is it's empty stalls/shops. What's preventing these from being filled, I'm unsure but it detracts from an otherwise enjoyable fruitful experience
